The Morgan Hotel

The redevelopment of the Morgan Hotel, which is situated in the heart of Temple Bar, presented not just a project to provide additional bedrooms, but also an opportunity to improve the flow and patterns of usage throughout the existing hotel. This was achieved by constructing a new 5-storey link structure to connect both buildings across every floor. The original hotel consisted of two 4-storey buildings with a connection link at ground floor only.

Another major element of the project involved replacing the existing fourth floor mansard roof with a new glazed facade, and the addition of a new fifth floor to both buildings adding a total of 40 new bedrooms beneath a distinctive zinc canopy.

Furthermore, the existing bedrooms, ground floor reception, bar and restaurant areas received a full make-over.

While this 168 bedroom hotel retains a lot of its original quirky character, it is also, very much the new Morgan Hotel. Due to the nature of the site and brief, and the constraints of building on top of an existing building, this was a difficult project that was, nonetheless, completed within programme.
